Light of the Deep Dawn
Lucinda comes from the Latin lūx, which means “light.”
Light of the Deep Dawn is a place for me to share reflections on faith, justice, poetry, and life.
In Luke 24, the women arrive at the tomb at “deep dawn.” Translators usually settle for something insipid like “early dawn.” The phrase is unique—used nowhere else in scripture. The “deep,” echoing the primordial waters from creation, suggests that this is not the dawn of another day, but the dawn of a new creation. A beginning that breaks open the world.
Here, I hope to offer small sheds of that light.
